Default '90 EGR Lines

My '90 has very tired EGR (vacuum lines) does anyone know where I can purchase G.M. part # 10055893. I have searched GM, GM performance, Ecklers, Mid-America, Corvette Central and the list goes on. G.M. states they were discontinued, looking for a knock-off or substuite.

Thanks for the help......................

If so, I know you can get a block off plate, but what about the EGR solenoid? Unplug it? Do you have to get a new chip programed so the computer wont look for the EGR? Thanks.

Does not the EGR calculate into passing or failing emissions testing, if so Arizona is a testing State?

Thanks.............................:cool :

Don't know of any resource for the OEM. Hard plastic line is available at most Discounters. You might just check with a couple of Dealers to see if any warehouse old parts. We have one in San Diego - Hine Pontiac - and sometimes, they can find discontinued stuff.

EGR is used to cool combustion temps at cruise when the ECM is delivering a 14.7 to 1 mix. That reduces NOX (a controlled emission), but more importantly detonation. Later, more sophiticated systems meter the flow through a series of valves, and more modern powertrains accomplish the same result through valve timing. Older stuff - such as the Brits in the Big One - simply injected water into their Spitfires accomplishing the same objective. If you don't know what it does, enroll in an Adult Ed class on electronic fuel injection, take a high school shop class or sit down with a cup of coffee at Border's and read Ben Watson's Chevy Fuel Injection. If you're spewing NOX, you're also burning valves and damaging pistons (as well as mucking up the environment). Can't say I'd get too excited about that sort of ride - but each to their own.

You can buy regular vacuum line by the foot at auto parts stores. It won't look correct, but I know on mine, you need a flashlight after you've bent way over to even see the darn thing.
