Hello all I have a 1991 that I recently put an Innovate wideband o2 on and finally got the gauge installed so I can actually monitor what the car is doing. How much variation from the beloved 14.7 is normal? The gauge will dip as low as 12's at times. Im probably actually ready for a chip burn just have been putting it off.
14.73 is a number GM came up with basically for the fact of emmisions with the use cats.
It is still a good number to shoot for in closed loop. Your diping in the 12's can be because: you entered power enrich, car still in open loop warming up or it just maybe to rich in certain areas of the tune. It would be good to have a laptop w/program on at the same time to be able to distinguish exactly when and where it is going rich(12.)
Other things to consider when using the lm -1 include calibrating, warming the sensor, and not leaving it in the car w/out using (will trash the sensor)
14.7 is a number that burns the cleanest for emissions purposes. AT WOT you probably want around 12.5-12.8 AFR for best power without going too lean that can damage stuff.
