confused 84 no start

hi ive got a 84 crossfire problem is it died would not start turns over fine had towed home went to try start the dash is light up without the key in try to pull codes all i get is code 12 the battery was dead had to charge possibley lost codes but why no 55 any help will be much appreciated

Code 12 is no Distributor Reference Pulse. Check the HEI module. With no DRPs, the fuel pump won't pump so you don't flood motor. You got no spark. check the ignition system.

Ignition module

My '84 had a random stalling issue.
Change the ignition module (under the distributor cap, of course). Costs about 20 bucks. Takes about 10 minutes. Mine seems cured.
