Ignition Key Alarm
Hi All,
I have a C4 96 GS...great car by the way...!
I posted this a few days ago in the general discussion, but got no answers yet.
When I insert the key in the ignition, an alarm/buzzer sounds.
It should turn off when you start the engine, but it does not and it keeps sounding as a continuios tone.
I am able to stop it by removing the LCD fuse and place it back, but when I turn off the engine and remove the key, the buzzer comes back and stays even when I lock the car.
Any ideas or help on this issue please?

I haven't had this problem in a Vette, but on my son's S-10 the problem was a little contact switch behind the key lock in the steering column. Not only is this annoying it will eventually drain your battery as well.
Kind of a pain to fix. I had to drop the column and pull the steering wheel as I recall. Might be easier to find the key buzzer wire where it comes out of the column and "temporarily" disconnect it. If someone on this forum has a schematic they should be able to give you the wire color. Good Luck.
