Default hub assembly question

Hi, my Service ASR/ABS light has been going on. Mechanic diagnosed wheel speed sensor. Says I need new hub assembly. Just checking to see if this is so. Thanks, Larry

It's possible. The front bearing/hub assemblies have the sensor built in. I'd make sure that he tried cleaning the harness connectors, etc. or somehow verified that the sensor was bad, since the parts are pretty expensive.

For the rear, speed sensors have nothing to do with the hub assemblies.

Hi,

He may be right, I had the same problem, used the FSM to troubleshoot and even went so far as to swap the front hubs to verify myself. Installed new fromt hub assy and problem went away.
But first like was suggested check all connects and clean before you do anything, especially the connection on the hub assy itself.
Good luck

I'm not sure about this, but I seem to recall another post describing how the 'teeth' that the sensor reads can be filled in with road debri causing inaccurate readings.

Anybody??

The 96 unit is not servicable, some earlier models were and this may be applicable.
