Default Gears

Was just wondering if anyone knows if any modifications need to be done to put a set of 4.09 gears into a D44? I have heard that in some cases the carrier has to be replaced because the gears won't bolt up to it. Anyone done this swap and have first hand information on it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I had a 4.10 gearset installed in my D44 without a problem. Don't see why the 4.09's would be any different.

Thanks STL94LT1......

Did the addition of 4.10's make a big difference in the acceleration of your car? I have 3.45's right now and can't help but think changing them out for lower gears will liven things up a bit.

The 4.10's have been my favorite mod. Not only does the car accellerate quicker, 6th gear is now usuable.
