What is the difference between a black tag and blue tag ZF 6 speed?

All I know is that the blue tag is found on later models, so i'm guessing its a more desirable model?

the black tag is stronger, straight cut gears. its louder but can take more power. the blue is quiet but not as strong.

The blue-tag units can take a lot of power though, unless you plan on putting 600+ lb/ft of torque through it you won't have a problem. I have a new blue tag unit in mine and I'm putting down 431 lb/ft to the tires and have never had an issue. I actually don't like the black-tag units because of how loud they are, especially with an aluminum flywheel.

I thought I remember from somewhere that the black tag units were built in Germany, and the Blue tag units were built in the States? But I can't remember exactly, maybe I'm thinking of a different trans?
