I have a '95 LT1 that is running terrible.:mad The problem is that it is running really rough. The exhaust makes deceleration type of noises when cruising on the interstate and there is a definite lack of power. The car also idles rough at about 600rpm. It seems to constantly stumble and shake at idle. Could this be a bad injector? I checked the fuel pressure and it is steady at about 46psi. Has anyone had a similar problem? Where should I take the car for diagnostic work? I appreciate any help. Thanks.
Probably your Optispark distrubutor..... When they get moisture in them they are pretty much toast. And a pain to replace. I have had this problem on a few LT1's that I have owned in the past.
Also, with your name, SLOWBUSA, do you own a Hayabusa?
Yes, I own a 2000 Blue&Silver 'Busa. I hope it is not the optispark. I am checking the fuel system first. Will check the ignition next. Thanks for your reply. :chevy
Unfortunatley you can almost bank on that problem being the OPtispark. I had the same problem before on previous cars. Shop around for the OPTI you can get them much cheaper than you may think.
It's around $27 and its very easy to replace. But if you lack power you might have a bad injector. It sounds like your car is not running on all eight cylinders.
You have a bad opti spark if your car misses at high rpm (5K or so).
