Anybody replaced the water pump in the wiper fluid resevoir ? How do get you get to the nut at the bottom ? And what size nut ? Any input would be appreicated.
I did mine once. Pretty sure I used a 15/16" or similar deep socket. I busted the screen on the old one and was able to play with regular sockets to get one to fit to remove it, and then used a deep socket to put the new one in. I had the tank out of the car and upside-down with me putting the screen/nut in from underneath. NOT an easy trick.

It does look like a challenge. But I believe there are very few easy fixes on a vette. I had a 13/16 and couldn't tell if I was on it or not. Thanks, got the new pump on order and of course it doesn't have a nut, that would have been nice.
Yeah, just hold it upside down and use an extension and socket. It's kinda a PITA to get the cone threads started because it's off center of the opening. Don't forget the rubber seal. I think it goes sandwitched on the bottom outside.
My dumb azz replaced the pump, only to realize that what I needed to do what to press the slide switch on the wiper switch, down against the door panel to squirt fluid.
In my case, I kept adding fluid and the reservoir never got full. Got a clue when my shoes started getting wet - the whole bottom of the reservoir was cracked. Replacement didn't come with a pump, but I managed to get a spare screen when I messed the old one up.
I never notice the leak because it dripped with the AC runoff. I figured it out when the spot in the garage was a blue tint. Once I noticed it, it got worse fast. I'll probally buy a 15/16 deep socket to get to it. Tried to RTV the pump back on to the motor and it didn't work.
