I have a lean spot in my VE table between 4-5k rpm that I cant adjust out. It runs about 12:1 through 4k then 17:1 till 5k (breaking up bad) and back to 12:1 till shift. I've raised the value in the ve table so much and still nothing. Are there any other tables that I need to be looking at (target afr is 12 for that rpm range)? Also, if unburnt fuel is read as a lean condition....could it be too rich in the VE table? That just doesnt sound right, does it?
When you say breaking up badly do you mean the engine is misfiring? Is it consistant every time, or just most of the time? It almost seems like your optispark is starting to go.
If the engine is misfiring then the lean a/f is most likely due to the unburnt O2.
It may be time to upgrade the opti to an accel Dual Sync Distributor. It involves removal of the EGR system and getting a rear mount dist hole setup in the back. I got mine setup from lt1intake.com. This lets you run full sequential injector timing with your Accel system. Just a thought, if the opti is your problem.
