i am building a 383 with a 3.750 crank and 5.7 rods.does anyone have agoo suggestion for a set of pistons that are strong and reasonable ? everything else is 4340 forged and i may run a shot of 100hp nitrous on rare occasions
thanx for any help

I have srp's in my race motor. Its a 13:1 with 150 shot of nitrous. These pistons have an 11cc dome and they sit below a 62 cc combustion chamber. I have had good luck with srp.
I was looking at doing this sometime in the future and my latest Jeg's catalog came in the mail. They now carry SRP's-I was benchracing PN #867-138089. They are 11.8 to 1 with a 58cc chamber flat top. Only ~$450. I'm sure 2FST4U could do better though...:)
They seem to be the piston of choice for many-fairly tight piston to wall clearances and overall strength. I've only used TRW's so far though...
No Go,
if nothing else you'll like for the piston to wall
clearance, there are better for not a whole lot more
dough but like 2fst4u said small shot nos or no
extended high rpm(like long round track) there
a good buy.

hey chris, was wondering what srp to go with considering the compression ratio for an LT4 is alraedy 10.8to1 ?? i saw i new jegs catalog with maybe the right piston for me but cannot remember the pn# ?? also looking for a set of gears and may consider anything between 4.09-4.30?? i hear that 4.27-4.30's put you at the end of the 1/4 mile right at the top of the rev limit for an
LT4 motor ?? was thinking of going with the 219 lingenfelter cam also !!!

I ran SRP in my previous 396 motor. I am going with true J&E with the most recent build up. I want the ability to throw more juice at it later. The SRP are good to about a 200 shot from what I have been told. If you are not going to go more than a 100 shot on the motor, the SRP are an excellent choice.
