Clang clang?

Clang clang?
When I start my car, I hear a NASTY clang clang clang clang. It sounds like it's coming from my bellhousing. Could I possibly have a bad flexplate/torque converter? I REALLY don't wanna rip apart the motor. BTW: This is on my 75 Chevy Truck, with a 350cid/TH350 tranny.

I have an '85 4+3 where after putting the transmission back in had the SAME problem. Turned out to be a VERY slight bend in the plate on the front of the bellhousing. I mean we are talking a ever so slight bend. Have you pulled your starter or anything lately? This is the FIRST place I would check since it is the easiest to fix. And you are correct, it is a real clang and sounds very bad.
