Rough acceleration and rapping noise coming from engine
Because it was such a beautiful day here in New England I decided to take my '94 LT1 for a ride. I hadn't started the car in about 3 weeks. The last time I used the car it ran great and always has since I've owned it. When I started it up I noticed a lot of smoke coming out my exhaust and then I noticed that it was running rough. I checked under the hood and everything looked normal. I decided to take it for ride and noticed that it was making a chugging like sound and everytime I tried to accelerate it ran very rough. I didn't see any smoke coming from the exhaust however. Car had no pep when I tried to give it gas however it would accelerate but ran rough while accelerating . Once it got up to a speed I wanted to drive at it seemed to run a little rough but not to bad. I drove it till it for about 20 miles to see if it condition would change but it didn't. When I got home I noticed a rapping like sound coming from the passenger side of the engine that I hadn't noticed when I first started the car up. I had no indicator warning lights come on. The car has only 30,700 miles on it and has always run great till today. I am the second owner and I have owned it for 2 years. I sure don't like that rapping sound. The car is not beat and and is in very good condition. Any thoughts as to what is going on or what I should try and do to diagnose? Appreciate it.
If you are unsure where the noise is coming from, I would pull the drive belt off and start her up. Just to rule out the accesories. The tensioner can make funny sounds.
The miss could be any number of things. Maybe a bad opti...?
