So I ran a 2001 Acura 3.2CL. That car is still a pretty fast Honda. But it was no match for a stock 88 TPI torque monster. So I ended up running a 14.331 at 95.032 mph and the Acura 3.2CL ran a 15.346 @ 95.283 mph. He had a cold air intake and some exhaust mods and my car was completely stock down to the stock air intake filter and rusty mufflers. I think he definitely has more top end than me, but it was a good race. My 60' was a 2.044 and his was a 2.298. But that was fun! Time to turn the 88 into a 13 second daily driver!
Since that was a 3.2CL Type-S model 6-speed, he had 260 hp which is quite more than me. I'm pretty sure our cars weigh roughly the same. With the exhaust and intake mods his car had, I'd think he'd have slightly more than 260 chp. My car came stock with 240 chp and is an auto with 3.07s. I do think it is torque that wins a drag race. His mph was slightly higher than mine though so that definitely showed his power up top.

Don't be too sure. You may find you have the lighter car by a semi-significant amount. I haven't checked the stats, but....

Or...his Pep Boys mods could have reduced his power...

Horsepower wins races, since races are based on time (who gets to the finish line quickest) and horsepower is a power/time calculation, whereas torque has nothing to do with time.
Regardless, you did a fine job of upholding the Corvette honor!

95 mph isnt really that great. Is the car running well?

That could be due to the hot humid Florida weather, the full tank of 87 octane gas and the 218 degree coolant temp. But sure as hell 100% stock from the ECM to the air filter! Maybe the air filter was a little dirty, but that's just an Autozone away!

I guess weather had something to do with it. Mine stock ran around 3 more mph for comparison. Have a good one!
My 88 will be closing in at 200k shortly. I'm currently at 199,632 miles to be exact. Still runs like a champ since the day I got it. The new fuel filter helped to say the least...
