Default Leaking around tie rod boot

My son's 1987 vette has a leak around the tie rod boot on the right steering tie rod. I imagine the seal is shot. Will I need to replace the entire steering gear (rack assembly) or can I just replace the seals/bushing in the assembly? How much is the steering gear/rack assembly? How much are replacement bushings?
I am not up to speed on all this car stuff and good assistance is appreciated.

Thanks

Just replace the rack, they are a real pain to rebuild. Rebuilt - $150-$250 at Autozone or the like, and there is no difference (as far as swaping) between the standard and sport steering.

I beg to differ, there is a difference between the standard steering and the Z51. There is a small round "cap" on the bottom of the rack and there is a letter on it, that is the code you need to get the correct rack. If this is incorrect then someone will correct me. It is much easier to swap the entire unit though.

"As far as swapping" ........ They are interchangeable. Frankly, I've never noticed much difference in driving between the two of them.
