Might depend on the backspacing...I've got 18X11's on the rear of my 91 (C-5 Z06 set) and they come just to the edge of the fender (but don't stick out any).

C5 Z06 rear wheels are 18x10.5.

17x11 come in two offests: 36mm and 50mm. The 36mm are ZR1 offset, and will stick out significantly on an 88-96, but will fit perfect on 84-87. The 50mm are Grand Sport offset. They will stick out about 1/2 inch.

18x10.5 Z06 rear wheels don't stick out at all on an 88-96.

I have 17x11 on all four corners and they don't stick out much. My car is also lowered and have had not problems rubbing.
