Remember my posts about my low oil pressure lights ?
ok,long story short
i took it for a 40 mile ride at 35-40 psi at 1200 rpm,its behaivor was excellent !
when we got back we got stuck on a big long traffic jam, pressure said 0for long time, that was 3 days ago,we finally got back and the engine had a dry sound and the coolant was hot.-
Today,i started the engine, and ITS STUCK ! It does not start !
Something bad happened, and yes,i assume the consecuences and im expecting the worst,a complete engine rebuild.
But i wanted to rebuild it since the first day,the car was lacking power and i suspected something was not fine there ...
So what are your advices ?
I think im gonna take the engine out of the Vette and want to rebuild it
but i dont want it stock,i want more horsepower and torque
NOT MUCH,100 more hp or something like that, which pistons do you recommend ? can i use a better cam without hassle the ECM ? (Which component list do you recommend)
Please i want to know experiences and what you recommend
thanx so much !

Get a crate motor with a good warrenty. Theres several outfits that you can get a good strong motor from. The stroker 383 seems to be popular, good performance and an easy install if yer gonna do it yourself. Pretty much a bolt in deal. If ya wanna go crazy git a supercharger kit and you can do killer burnouts
Bottom line, IMHO, it aint worth doing it yourself when you can get a good motor with warrenty already built.
Thanx but thats bit boring (no offense) i know it could be a practical solution....
But i want to rebuild the engine myself so i can ride on a car that i knew i redid the engine and was part of that process
thanx anyway!
I get your enthusiasm but there is soooo much to know about building a motor properly than screwing one together....Heck the right tools alone can add up to quite a bit. One small oversight or "I didnt know" can cost you a whole lotta dough, it happens.
If budget isnt a concern than go for it but the above poster was trying to save you $$ from potentially doing it twice. Wev'e all been there.
Thanx Cuisinartvette !!!!
Nice words !!!
yes i will be paying to a friend who is gonna do it and he got all the knowledge,i will be there assisting him and learning a lot, that's why i wanted to avoid the brand new engine thing,i also thank OTS_UFN for his advice,i guess i didnt explain the learning part in which im very interested,i did a semi rebuild to my 82 v6 and that was years ago,i want to build this nice 350 all over again, which parts do you recommend me to increase performance a bit ? but i dont want it to be a fuel eater ,,how about 300hp ?

If the heads survived, and you are planning to reuse them, some minor bowl blending and a little port work are always a plus. But, before sinking too much money in them, investigate a set of new, aftermarket heads. It may be cost effective to swap them. Stick in a zz4 chevy cam, do some base manifold porting and port the plenum. With a decent exhaust, this is a mid 12- thirteen flat combo with great manners, power and milage.
I personally enjoyed this combo for 4 years before stepping it up. It was dead reliable and alot of fun to drive. Ran consistant enough to win a track championship also. I miss those days.
Note to self....Never run your motor with 0 oil pressure had similar problems a few weeks back, pressure dropped to 16, I shut it down filled her back up and off I went, had a bad oil leak fo sho.
Sorry to hear about your motor bro but Look at the bright side, you can build it bigger and stronger now.
I learned allot here from these guys and im almost done with my 383,Goodluck with your next build.
