two headers, one on each side, draw the gasses out.
these gasses go down individual pipes to the mufflers at the back.
done.
easy.
now, you are losing power.
sad.
the xpipe is used to join the two sides together. as the gasses from the left cross over, they set up a vacuum that increases the scavaging power of the right side.
with a single central cat, you have negated any benefit of the xpipe.

visualize this:
the engine has two banks.

rethink the exhaust system.
Sorry, guess I fked up the description.
I will have two headers, each with it's own high flow 3 inch cat. So that's 2 catalytics.
The cats will flow into the X pipe.
The X pipe will go into my power effects system which is now set up as true dual, I removed the Y pipe that went into the cat.
Sorry to make you write so much because of my bad description.
I got a nice looking stainless one off EBay for about $40, it looks just like the magnaflow ones. I have not put it on yet so all I can say about it is it looks pretty. I did a quick search and could not find another but they may come back up again.
