Default X pipe reccomendations...

Can anyone recommend a 3 inch X pipe for a 1990 L98 with an auto.

I have been searching the web for a week. I'm having a bitch of a time finding one.

They range from $90 to $300 and none seem to fit the way I need it to fit.

I have a Power Effects cat back system.

I'm going from headers, to a cat, to an X pipe, to the cat back.

that won't work.

an xpipe is not an addition... it's a function.

visualize this:

the engine has two banks.

two headers, one on each side, draw the gasses out.

these gasses go down individual pipes to the mufflers at the back.

done.

easy.

now, you are losing power.

sad.

the xpipe is used to join the two sides together. as the gasses from the left cross over, they set up a vacuum that increases the scavaging power of the right side.

with a single central cat, you have negated any benefit of the xpipe.

rethink the exhaust system.

You are planning on the connecting to the X pipe from what? The cat has one outlet. What are you going to use for the other, X pipe inlet???

You can make an X pipe from a pair of stock 90° bends, a whole bunch cheaper that you mentioned.

RACE ON!!!

Sorry, guess I fked up the description.

I will have two headers, each with it's own high flow 3 inch cat. So that's 2 catalytics.

The cats will flow into the X pipe.

The X pipe will go into my power effects system which is now set up as true dual, I removed the Y pipe that went into the cat.

Sorry to make you write so much because of my bad description.

ah, no biggie.

I like CFI's recommendation... make one... Borla and Magnaflow both make one, I think.

Dr Gas makes one, may have to cut it down to fit the Vette.

I got a nice looking stainless one off EBay for about $40, it looks just like the magnaflow ones. I have not put it on yet so all I can say about it is it looks pretty. I did a quick search and could not find another but they may come back up again.
