Default csr electric water pump question ??

hi guys,
i have a csr brand electric water pump # 24178 and also brought a painless electric weater pump relay/wire kit also #50106.

any way,has any one at all please installed this water pump on there l98engine at all ?

this pump i have only has one inlet pipe on it , which would be the bottom radiator hose.
but my coolent resovoir bottom hose would normally go to the standard water pump,so what do i do with this resovoir hose ?

is it needed or not please ?

do i need it or just plug it off please ?

also is the bottom radiator hose the same diameter fitting as the top radiator house please ?

reason why i ask is that when i brought the e/water pump i also brought the screw in inlet pipe that screws in to the pump but the end where the r/hose slides over seems to be too large a diameter for the top radiator test hose to fit on.
if the hose is larger in size than the top radiator hose i wont have to modify the screw in pipe to make fit.

do i really need also to use the painless relay/wire kit also ?

the water pump only has two wires a blue wire being 12 volt positive they say and must be fused with 15 amp fuse, and black wire being ground.
is that all thw rire i need is it ?
i thought there had to be a a switched wire being power source and usually that is the oink wire /being fan relay area ?

if you have any tips or advice on installing it would be also great!
cheers
shae

It's hard to say what to do without seeing it. Have you tried getting ahold of the manufacturer to get a set of instructions?

Emo, do a search on L98 and electric water pump...
...you'll see that it's very difficult install one on a L98, lots of custom work
I considered me too, and i ended to run the standard way.

Obviously you must have a cooling problem to want to do this. People have tried to install electric water pumps on C4's for while but I've never seen a successful installation of a csr or meziere or anythoing else for that matter. Stewart has a remote mount electric water mpump but they actually don't recommend installing it in a C4 vette.

After much research and actually installing three water pumps in a row, I came to the conclusion that the flowkooler water pump did the best job at idle keeping my C4 from overheating at idle. The stewart pump came close but not at idle. The stock pump was not useful after the 383 upgrade.

If you ever get it installed and running well, PLEASE share your success since a lot of us wnated to do this at one point or another. If I say it on ebay, I'll assume you heard more no's than yesses :-) good luck

As stated on a L98 you have a major problem rerouting the belt to service the other accessories.
With your intake you don't have problem with TB duct but straight line from Alt to A/c runs through top radiator hose.

Pump outlet on bottom hose is bigger than top inlet but std fitting supplied with pump is usually for bigger hose again. Will need to check what size fitting you have.

Because of the current draw of the pump you need a feed to the pump direct from the battery through the relay.Relay needs to be activated when ign is on ; as in when engine is running.
You can then run a separate switched feed to the relay so you can run the pump to cool down when engine is off.

hi rod,
how are ya!
thanks for the reply
r.e the re routing of belt,
i have a pollution pump delete pulley on,3 piece under drive pulley kit,no air cond, running a ribbed idler pulley and ran belt around idler pulley instead .
so i shouldnt have a problem there.
but i have a/c bracket mostly trimmed down but not sure if my csr water pump will still with it and also i heard p/s bracket can be a pain also where it needs to be trimmed !!
thanks for your help
cheers
