I'm replacing the window regulator strip on the door of my 84 Vette.
The regulator strip I have is the correct one BUT . .it's about twice as long as the original one.
Anyone know what the regulator strip length is supposed to be?
I suspect parts of the old strip are missing so I can't just trim it to the length of the old one. :(
I need to trim it to the correct length before installing the regulator in the door.
(IT's TOO hard to put in and take out experimenting with the correct length)
Thanks in advance guys, I know someone out there has the answer. :)
hey..just did mine not to long ago....you gotta cut it...line it up with the very top of the track then use a razor and score it..then bend and break...make sure you got a little longer then when its all together cut off the rest..you cant have any extra otherwise it will get caught and break again.....also sand and lube that track up if it has rust on it....and make sure you put the track on exactly as removed when you do the pop rivit thing....otherwise it will scratch your window.....If you have any questions..email me...if you finished already then sorry for being late....Shayne
oh.be sure to make the wires snug when putting back...my dumb a s s didnt and when the window went down...the wire on the motor got caught on the window stop...so when i rolled it up it pulled the wire out of the motor..
