While driving at normal hi-way speed (between 50 and 60mph) if I let off the gas, the car shifts, or wiggles in the rear, then feels fine. Upon re-applying gas, it will have this feel again, as if something is shifting back ,, but then feels stable again. I’ve had an alignment done, ask that they look for anything worn or loose. I thought bushings maybe?.. The technician said everything looked O.K. Could it be a Differential not acting right? Any ideals? Is this normal?
I'd double check the bushings again. It's not hard to pull the upper rear dogbone bolt out. It won't come all the way out but it will come out far enough to allow you to pivot the dogbone up and get a real good look at the bushings. If they are even the slightest bit off center, they are needing replacement.
Mine was doing the same thing and it is the bushings. It is hard to see it because when you lift the car you load the bushings and you can not tell that they are bad.
I would NOT rule out the half or drive shafts as mentioned above BUT this is what I found in MY situation.
I was able to locate it by using a BIG prybar and prying on each bushing and WOW were they bad! Looked like they were moving a mile.
Thanks for the info..fair price for replacing the bushings?
Thanks for all the help.. This gives me a good place to start.. Today a metal against metal sound started coming from the left rear wheel area. I just replaced the wheel bearing about 1000 miles ago. But I guess it could be another one bad; or it could be the half shaft...Could this be caused by the bushings? What kind of cost should I expect for replacing the bushings or half shafts? I'll post once I get it into the shop and know more..
