Default 92 coupe - electrical probs

Hello all, new to the area and forum - had my 92 since 99 and this is (happily) one of the first problems i've been stumped on.

noticed about 3 weeks ago my cruise control cut out, about 2 weeks ago my windshield wipers stopped working, and then last week my turn signals started acting up (left signal is normal, right signal remains steady on) ... I haven't torn it apart yet to check the obvious fuses, etc.. anyone run into this problem? seems as if everything is related to the control lever -

thanks!
adam

Well the 1st thing you need to check on the cruise is the vaccuum line, check for loose fitment and cracks. Did you go under the hood or dash before everything started acting up?

will check that out - thanks - i haven't done anything under the hood other than change the battery in july - which timing-wise matches... i'll check the cc line and other fuses to see if changing the battery blew a couple. thanks!

It seems that most electrical problems end up being a bad ground. It helps to have the Helms Service Manual to locate the many ground bolts or terminals found in the Vette. So check all the easy things first, fuses etc, then dive into the manual. Have patience.

I bet its in the control stem for the wipers, turn signals and CC. I had to have mine replaced because my systems were doing the same things. $600.00

I am not convinced throwing money at this is the fix.

Check the wiring...check the grounds... With this issue, I would be 100% sure the battery terminals were tight and not rattling around.

One other thing... the frame rail under the battery rusts... damned electricity! That means the ground strap to the frame gets corroded. It needs to be inspected. It has happened to my 92, so I wouldn't be shocked yours has the same issue. It requires removing the battery, the battery tray and the inner fender. It's more time consuming than anything else.

and most importantly, www.helminc.com - your best friend.
