Default Lloyd Elliot LE1 or LE2?

I'm sending my heads off to LE Portworks, but am still on the fence about which package to choose. I have talked to Lloyd once the other day, and plan to call him back tomorow after I ship the heads. This car is not a daily driver, but it is expected to be docile enough to pass emissions and get me to the beach occasionally and be good enought to run the 1/4 respectfully with the rest of the C5, C6 gang in the club.

I am also planning a rear change out to 3.55 within the next 6 months and a higher stall converter. I'm also going to do the email tune with PCM4less to get it roughly dialed in. Then plan on taking in person for a final tune.

Do any of you have the LE heads on your cars? What did you go with and what were your results in the Vette. I have read many posts on the FBody Forums and Z28 forums, but would like to hear from Vette owners with Lloyds heads on the car.

I have not installed mine yet, going in this winter. I had him do a LE1 port job but with the larger LE2 valves. Then he went ahead and put together a cam that would go good with the heads and do what I wanted. He mad it sound like he does these hybrid packages normally maybe he could come up with something for you.

If I were you, I'd go with an LE1 emissions cam & LE2 heads. I'm running and older version of the LE2 cam.

Travis,
What was the package price of this? How long was your turn around?

I have been following many threads over at the camaro sites on the LE work as well. He has a good reputation over there and in general as well. I am thinking of trying to do my H/C in 2 steps for financial reasons. Doing the cam 1st and the heads later, with the cam able to perform well with my stock heads and an LE2 head package. I was thinging of a 1.5 cam that some others have done, but I know it wouldn't pass the sniffer. That will be your main limiting factor on your cam profile. I think the LE1 emissions cam is tamer than the regular LE1 cam, FWIW.

It cost me $1500, $1200 for the porting and cam, $300 more for the bigger valves. I do not remember how long the turn around was about 2 or 3 months I think. I was in no hurry had the work done last spring on heads I got from a forum member and not going in tell this winter. I am getting a bit antsy though. EM long tubes 30mm TB and 30# injectors with a custom exhaust. Should be fun, I told Lloyd I was hopping for 400RWHP little nervous now with the monster cam he sent me but he assures me it will idle like a hot cam just put out a lot more HP and torque.

Yeh, he told me the same thing. I have listened to a bunch of LE2 setups on Z28Camaro.com, dang they sound pretty radical to me.

I have the full LE2 package. If I were you I would talk to LE and tell him what you want, then do what he says!
I would do LE1 cam and LE2 heads. You will not pass emissions with something bigger, and you won't want it with an auto either.
If you expect the power quoted on his site, you need to do ALL the other items too, and you will be happy!

If I choose not to do a stroker first than I'm going with the LE 1.5 cam and LE2 heads. I spoke with Lloyd on the phone and many others who have this setup. Give him a call and he will guide you in the right direction. The cams are custom by a guy named Bret Bauer. Tell him what you are looking for.

You might want to see if theres any special license plate you could get from the state DMV which would exclude you from emmissions testing. In Illinois you could get a show or drag car plate for it. I think it allows only 3 to 5 thousand miles a year. This being said, you could get the LE2 package.

I just got back home from work -- Shipped my heads today DHL from Maryland to Texas, $25 not bad for 50Lbs worth of alluminium.

But I'm psyched that they are off, and I'm leaning to the LE2 heads and LE1 emissions cam. I will make up my mind by the time the heads get to Lloyd.
