700r4 won't shift

700r4 won't shift

'91 700r4, I have to lift to get 3-4 shift. 1-2, and 2-3 shift at 5200, but 3-4 will not shift (I've seen 5800 before lifting) All else seems well otherwise. Thoughts?

govenor

on the side of trans, there is a hub that you carefully pry off and replace govenor. Or your TV cable needs adjusting.

TV cable doesn't get adjusted, its gets set.

Blocked govenor screen, hung up valve in the governor, worn axle pins in the governor or "apple cored" governor gear are all possibilities. The gear is the likely cause.
