I have a 48k L98 that I would like to add a cam & head combo to still keeping the TPI. What cyl. head has produce d good results? I am looking at 195cc Procomp aluminum heads I found on ebay. What do you guy think?
Waveman, dont waste your money on those pos. What year is your l98? because the l98 does has aluminum heads 58cc. You can take your heads to a machine shop and have an angle job done. You should do your intake, cam, and exhaust before thinking about new heads.
heads and cam aside, why would you build a thoroughbred backbone only to choke it off at the ***** with a very sh!tty intake?
go miniram or superram with the intake along with the heads/cam combo of your choice.......and absolutely dump that suck-azz tpi and never look back -- it's a rev-killer and a performance chokehold.

I just spent the last month on such a question.
First question, what year L98?
The older L98s have lower compression ratios. The older ones yet have cast iron heads. What year do you have?
There's a number of factors of heads.
1. Flow
2. CC or intake runners
3. CC combustion chambers
4. Cam
5. Size of valves
I like the advice above, pick the cam and intake, then adjust the head accordingly.
After weeks of research I went with Brodix heads with a 180CC runner and I'm having them shaved to a 58CC combustion chamber. Many people go with "too much" head. 220CC runners, and 67CC chambers is more than you'll need for a 350. By going with too much head the car will run crappy and be SLOWER, not faster. Make sure everything is matched.
So, select an intake base, runners, plenum then the cam and heads will follow.
