On one of the A/C lines on my 94, the valve is leaking. It doesn't look like a standard schraeder valve like on most cars (and on the other line, for that matter) but like some sort of black rubber diaphragm. It appears that the rubber is split around the edge, and when you take the cap off, you can see and hear it leaking there. Does the valve unbolt from the hard line, and if so, is it separately servicable, or do I just need to replace the line?

......if you remove the valve you will blow your refrigerant charge......your description has me confused a bit but, if the shrader valve is leaking, they make tools that are able to extract the core and replace it w/o losing the charge.......i have an 88 and not sure what yours looks like......
I've already lost some of the charge, no big deal, it's 134A. I know about the schraeder valve, and the other line has one. This fitting does not have a schraeder valve in it. When you take the cap off, you see a black rubber boot in the hole. The edge of the boot appears to be torn or separated from the fitting, and it is leaking out of there. When you pull up on the boot with a pick, you can see a flat piece of metal, but definitely no schraeder valve. Maybe this was something they tried on the 94's? It was the first year of 134A refrigerant. I just don't know why it isn't on both lines. I guess I'm gonna have to replace the line. I hope it's still available. Anyone else with a 94 have this on their line?
R134 uses quick connect fittings and those are serviceable. You will need a R134 gage set to service the system. The only thing on the high side line should be that fitting and a Pressure Sensor (3 wire). Parts and images are available at www.acdelco.com but looking at the hose, I only see the high side fitting. Low side is built into the accumulator. Anyway, caps and schraders are listed and shown so hopefully you can find what you need. NAPA probably has replacement parts also - www.napaautoparts.com
