Default VBP X-treme front spring

I just received my VBP X-treme front spring. NO instructions. Now i lnow how it all goes in, but here is my question. What the HECK are the round aluminum pieces that have 2 1/4-20 bolts in them??? I called VBP, but their C4 guy already left for the weekend. The rest of them didnt know what they are for. Im supposed to call them back monday, but i really wanted to install this today and tomorrow.
Anyone have this setup? Mine is an 88....If you look at page 17 in there catalog, you can see the spring, shim, and the 2 pieces im talking about..
Any input (if you have this spring) would be appreciated...
Thanks all!!!

Are they not the peices that go between the bottom of the spring & the lower A-arm? If I'm thinking right this is where you can adjust your ride height.

The poly screw on bushings at the end of the spring is what does that. These are round alum rods, milled almost in half, with (2) 1/4 20 bolts in them. They are also ball-milled to fit onto the spring mounting blocks, but i dont see what they srew into. VBP believes i dont need them, but like i said, thier c4 guy wasnt in to talk to me.

I am sure they are needed......
I would of though they were to control the height as well, just like the rear spring, are they threaded?

The piece that you are talking about bolts to the original U- shaped bracket that mounts the spring to the car.

1) Put long mounting bolts in from above

2) Slide the new aluminum flat piece on the large bolts from below. (this will keep the top of the pad from rubbing on the frame)

3) Line up the spring and hold it in place

4) Install the original "U" type bkt. with the aluminum cyl. piece.
** Install the aluminum piece w/ the 1/4" bolts to the "U" bkt before installing on the car. It keeps the pad/spring centered.

It will make sense when you see it.

One final note: If you lower your car when it is not jacked up the pads will come loose from the allen bolt. (ask me how I know)

I enquired about this last year. The answer was the the Extreme spring is adjustable from 800-1250 #/inch which is 140-219 N/mm

Z51 = 115.5 Nt/mm, Vetracr, what spring rates did you use to run on yours?

I was told the front is NOT adjustable in the rate. (the rear yes...)
it's about 1200 lb .
I read somewhere that now VB can do it to a different rate (if requested..)

VB will build you whatever rate you want.

Most of the national autocross drivers run their springs.

Let us know how easy it is to adjust the ride hieght.

Still not sure if I want this setup, or bite the bullet and go to coilovers.

On my 90 race car I ran stock Z-51 springs front and rear. I didn't find any need to run stiffer ones. I ran big sway bars and high rebound rate Koni sport shocks which worked great. I made my own front adjustable front sway bar and used a Tri-Point Engineering adjustable rear bar. The car handled great with this set up on 17X11's all around mounting 315 Kumho's.

I tuned suspension to match my driving style of cutting over berms at corner apex's. I could get away with this all day because of the cars 3000# weight.

MRC24X , thanks alot.....1 more question for you.The pad falling off makes sense when you said it.lol. Would you recommend loctitie on the pads? I also thought a nut on top of the allen would hold the setting, but VBP said it was overkill..Did you have any problems there??

Didnt get to install it yet, will in the next few days maybe.

The info on the spring rates was great to have also...

I appreciate it everyone.

Hi!

Be sure and let us know how much you are able to adjust the ride height----I have been thinking of going this way, too, rather than using those aftermarket "wedges".

Thanks!
