Is my TPS gone bad??
I can't get my 85 to idle. When I unhook IAC and go through steps it won't idle even at 450 in gear or 400 out of gear, it keeps searching. Besides that, when I try to set the TPS it doesn't go anywhere near .54 v as I'm told it should be set! It best I can get it to .38 v and then when I put it together, it idles at 1k. How do I know if my TPS has gone south? :confused:

That right there is a good indication. I would try getting a new TPS. I had one that I ordered from a local auto parts store, and had the same problems.....voltage at idle didnt go even close to the .54v, and when i set it, i could not get it to idle below 1000. The remedy was putting back on the 16 year old TPS that came with the car. Runs perfect now. :)

I dont know why it would be so tempremental, but in that case, I would go to either a dealer or ecklers for the sensor, cuz the one i got from the auto parts store looked exactly like the one i had, but didnt work. Plus its not an expensive part.
