Default Injector Help Needed

I did an ohm test on the injectors on my wife's '90 L98. With the exception of two injectors, they all came up 16 cold and 17 hot. One came up 13 cold and 13 hot. The scary one came up 31 cold and 26 hot. What do I do next? Thanks in advance for the help. Walt

Not sure what the high reading means , but I would suggest to do the research -here with a search on your symptoms. I looked back and found nothing more than you were told to replace the injectors- and you might need to . If you were to post what your symtoms are with your Vette I am sure many people will respond. Sam Lam has a great procedure for replacing your injectors , however you may need to test some things first IMO.

Walt: I would suggest two thing for you to do on the injector issue.

1. Recheck your readings to see if you get the same values as you did on the first reading.
2. Physically examine your injectors to see if the all look the same. Multec injectors should look like this photo:

It sounds like you have seven Multec injectors (one of which is starting to have shorted coils) and a "rogue" injector from another vehicle. The resistance of the high reistance injector is bass ackwards in that the low value should be cold and the high value should be with a hot part. This is not what your reported in your post.

Let us know what you find.

Bob

Have you done a fuel pressure test? Yeah 2 injectors seem funky, but I thought as temps rise resistance falls...am I mistaken on that? None the less, if you have the mutecs it probably time to replace them.

as temperature rises, resistance also rises.

I have a '91 and replaced my injectors after doing the resistance test. Believe the readings should be 16.5 and shouldcheck hot and cold. My ride was surging while criusing and a rough idle. Do a search on injectors or rough idle and surging...there is a lot of info out there. If you have the stock injectors more than likely they need to be replaced. There are some good recommendations out there too on replacements within the search criteria provided. Cured my problem that I must have had for a long time and didn't realize until it got real bad. Like a new ride!!

Default INJECTOR HELP NEEDED. part...2

Thanks for the help. The '90 L98 I strongly think is running on 7 cylinders. Runs and idles very bad. I don't know if the injectors have ever been replaced in 87,652 miles. I haven't checked the fuel pressure because I don't have a gauge.
I've gone through all of the posts that I could find on injectors, except archives,I don't know how to get there, and have decided to change injectors. New problem. Do I buy new or rebuilts. In any case what are the best injectors to use in a stock engine? This is very confusing because I've read about red, blue ,yellow tops. Accell,Ford Bosch etc. Asy ou guys can tell I'm in a quandry. Thanks again, Walt

Walt: The injectors are relatively easy to change out and takes about 4-5 hours and a only a few special tools are needed. The most difficult part of changing out the injectors is SELECTING what brand/type to put is as replacements for the Multecs. Here is a long thread to begin your education:

Do some reading and send out some PMs to people for advice. Good hunting!!!

Buddy of mine was having same problem with his 90. We stuck my old stock 92 injectors and car runs perfect now. Replaced all at once.
