I have a set of Hooker #2151s on my 90 for about a year now and the coating on em is shot. I took em off and took em to the coating shop where they blasted em. The guy calls me and says ya better come look at these before we coat em they are pretty pitted and won't look good with the ceramic coating on em. They have a primer coat they can spray on to fill some of the pits before they coat it with a silver titanium coating and not the ceramic type coating so I told em to go ahead and do em agggggggggh Anyone have trouble with their headers coating not lasting? Pipe
My 2151's started to flake off at the bottom of the collectors only. I scrubbed the area good with steel wool. Knocked off the rust and loose coating.
Then I hit them with several coats of silver high temp Rustoleum paint and set them to dry in direct sunlight. The pain blended in well with the rest of the original coating, and it's held up very well.
Years. It only happened because I had no choice but to drive the car in the rain quite often. This drenches the bottom of the headers in water. The rest is fine.

Can you send them back? The coating should have a few year warrenty from what I remember. Also if you do talk to them make sure you broke them in correctly:
Installation Notes
Breaking in an engine with ceramic coated Headers WILL result in damage to the coating and will VOID all warranties. Ceramic coated Headers require several heat cycles to fully cure before they will withstand extreme heat. Hooker recommends using cast iron exhaust Manifolds or old Headers to break in new engines to avoid coating damage. Please call Hooker tech service at 270–781–9741 for additional information regarding ceramic coated exhaust products.
