i am going to have to buy tires pretty soon.. i got c5 wagon wheels in the staggered 17's on the front and 18's on the back.. the fronts as you might guess are perfect but the rears are getting pretty thin.. now i know i spent $255 a tire for my 275/35zr18 nitto 555's a year ago.. and i wasn't totally impressed with how they hooked.. they were not bad but i can stab the throttle and blow them over and going hard into turns its coming loose and they couldn't hardly hook at all at the drag strip which i am sure wasn't prepped as good as it could have been.. but i really need something that is going to be a decent all weather performance tire.. i saw some kuhmo asx's that weren't too bad and heard thatthe mx's were good too but not all weather. but i don't really want to sell my kidney to buy new tires.. any input.. i have had sumitumo's that really sucked too and some stock c5 tires that weren't too bad but a rough ride in my z51..
Go to Tire Rack site and look at Good Years GS-D3. I have used most all brands in the last 10 years and the GS-D3 is a good tire for the money. Best tire was Michelin Pilot Sports but way too expensive and did not last as long if you have daily driver like me.
NY state, get the ASX. You'll be able to drive at sub freezing temperatures without rock hard tires.
I'm done with preformance tires that go hard during the winter.
I live in Texas, really Hot here. Mild winters. Driving a Vette with hard tires is scary. Should have looked where he lived before I suggested a Good tire that last and are not Rock hard after 10,000 miles or still so soft they are almost worn out.

The Tire Rack is a great resource that more people should use, www.tirerack.com. The General Exclaim UHP sounds like a very good tire for the money. My experience with Kumho street tires has not been very good, however their R compound tires are really top notch.
Check out the Pirelli P zero's. I have them on my XJR and they are fantastic in the wet as well as the dry.If there's a complaint it's that they are a tad noisy but thats in a car where you hear the clock tick. I'm running Sumitomo's on the vette and they leave a lot to be desired but at $95 a pop you can't complain. You pays your money and takes your choice.
