The temp gauge on my '95 LT1 read different temps. The analog will peg in traffic, yet the digital will go to 230 or so, and the fans kick on and down it goes. On a cool night, the digital will vary from187 to 193, while the analog will read 210 - 220. Is ther a way to remedy this cheaply? I am inclined to believe the digital because it coincides with the thermostat rating and the oil and tranny are relativey close in temperature. I also do not get a warning light even though the analog is pegged. I constantly monitor the coolant temp digitally any time I am driving. I have learned to ignore the analog, but that is not a fix. What can you tell me?
P.S. I read the other posts on this subject, but wanted more input. I never lose coolant, no boil over, no loss of power or engine seizing in spite of what appears on the anaolog to be absoluty maxed out, in the cross-hatched area.

On my LT-1 I was cruising through town one night when all the sudden the "Check Gages" light goes on... WTF I said to myself as I notice that the temp has been pegged on both the analog and digital displays. I killed the motor immediately, turned on the fan override, and coasted to a stop... Now if any car was cooking itself to death from an overheated motor... there should have been some smell or some sign of malfunction. Nope! WTF? The manifold felt normal and the hoses didn't feel out of the norm, so I drove on after checking the fluid level.
Turns out it was the sensor that is tapped right into the front of the water pump. Replaced it, and everything was good.
As far as I know, don't quote me on this, but from my experience it lends itself to mean that both gages are signalled from the same sensor.
