Default Calling Scorp

Hey Scorp,

I was wondering what your setup is currently to run a 13.8. My last run with my 84 was a 14.6. I just installed a chip and I can't wait to hit the track. :)

Umm well.... my engine the L98 is different than your L83 in the '84 (Unless you have swapped it out, then I apologize.)

L83 = 205hp / 300 ft/lb
L98 = 240hp / 340 ft/lb (245hp in my case, different mufflers came on Z51 cars)

That aside.... :) the 13.8 run was down with (lemme think here).....

Hypertech Stage II Chip (Worthless)
Air Filter & Lid Removed
Short Shifter on my 4+3 tranny
Flowmaster Mufflers (Same flow #s as the stock ones though, just sound better)
Timing at -4 ( :eek: )
Bald Tires :)
TPS @ 0.68v/idle, which makes no difference since I'm at WOT the whole run.

Those are the only things that were done to the car at the time. So pretty much the only thing that might of helped was removal of the air filter, and the short shifter allowing me to be on the gas more, and shifting less.

Since then it has run anywhere (this is assuming a good run/shifts/launch which isn't always the case) from 13.8x to 14.2x times depending on weather/track conditions.

Different mufflers on Z51 cars? I haven't heard that before. My '86 is Z51 and stock HP I believe (cast iron heads) is 230. Since I've got a Z51 you think I actually have more than 230?

Yes, sir. Lots of early C4s you will notice have 4 exhaust outlets, but only two of them are functional. The non functional ones are literally just welded onto the mufflers for looks. The Z51 cars (possibly Z52 also, although I am not sure) have all four outlets functioning and are more free flowing.

*edit*

As for your 86, I am not positive if the different mufflers were used at that time. I'll get back to you later.

Yer' just a' masta' drivin' pimp.... :jester

I'm going to E-Town this weekend, maybe I can redeem myself.

Check the times in my sig, I need to work the '60 ft. down to a 2 flat and I could pull a 14.3. The only mod is straight exhaust after the stock manifolds and the time was with the ZF6. The engine has some sort of rebuild on it, nothing special I don't think, no lump at idle, just tons of torque :cool:

Keith, are you still running a crossfire motor or a TPI?

All times are on the stock crossfire injected. I have a new X-ram, and 1 5/8" full length LPE headers ready to go on, I still need the rest of the exhaust and some roller rockers that fit under the stock vavle covers. Hopefully I'll have a
"stock" crossfire that runs 13s :D

My 14.6 time et was only 93 MPH. Is it possible for me to be going 3 miles per hour slower and only be .1 slower than that time?
