I cant get it to the settings recommended by you guys. The closest I can get is .6-.8 on idle and 4-4.1 on WOT. Is this enough on a 91 to work properly at WOT?
If not whats the fix? New TPS? This one reaches 4.5 but I have to depress it much further with a tool to register that number.
I didn't think the '91 TPS was slotted. If not you might cut slots at the bolt holes or get at TPS from say an '88 or '89.
Then set the base idle (450rpm) value to 0.65Vdc, snug the bottom bolt a little and move the top slot to get >4.5Vdc at WOT. You may have to go back and touch up the base setting a time or two.
If you have a scan tool use it to verify >4.5Vdc with the accelerator fully depressed. Of course you can also verify open loop mode at WOT too.
Yeah the TPS on them cars arent slotted..Ive always wondered why.I like the slotted style so you can adjust the TPS voltage higher or lower,as say to work better with some mods or improve throttle response.
Its possible if the min air screw is off or mis adjusted, the TPS will get a diff. reading when hooked up.Im just guessing, dont know for sure with that particular TPS type.65Z01 said it best on setting it up.
Yep,Scan tools are also the best...I can easily adjust the TPS by looking at the scanner and not hooking up pins, wires or digital voltmeters. You can also easily see the voltage numbers from closed to WOT.
Just suggesting this if you was ever thinking of getting a scan tool someday.
:)
no idea what yours is like but on mine you pivot it to change the reading. Mine idles at .63 now, and just today i got my WOT from 4.3 to 4.8 where it should be. To get the WOT setting up i had to keep the same pivot angle, but pull the whole unit towards the front of the car.
