Intake Gaskets Questions
However - I found today that the engine has LT-4 heads and also an LT-4 intake. When I removed the intake I found extensive evidence of oil entry into the intake ports for cylinders 5,7 and 2. Whoever put it together used double intake gaskets - and all sides of all gaskets were coated with oil. There is no evidence of any RTV used on the gasket surfaces.
Here's a couple of questions:
1. Are LT-1 and LT-4 gaskets the same?
2. Will it be a safe bet to use GM racing gaskets (or Felpro) with some RTV or 'the right stuff' - has anyone had luck with that combination?
3. Given that this is a boosted engine (12psi) - is there an alternative recommendation (metal gaskets etc).
