Default Timing cover suggestions?? Please!!

I purchased a timing chain earlier this year and have yet to install it. My issue is when I purchased the chain there was no note in the ad stating that it wouldn't fit behind the stock timing cover, now there is.

I want to keep the the chain but I need some suggestions on a timing cover and pointer that will work with it on my car (1991 L98).

There's larger timing covers, but they aren't cheap..I'd exchange the gears.

Summit states that it wont fit the stock timing cover. I would call & ask them. You would think they would have one.

Anyone running a double row timing chain in their L98? If so what timing cove are you using?
I've tried contacting Summit and I'm still waiting on a reply.

I haven't actually torn down the engine down yet, so I didn't know if it would fit behind the stock cover. As I stated when I originally purchased the chain earlier this year there was no note on Summit's ad that it wouldn't fit, then someone brought it to my attention that now there is so I was a bit worried. I'm just trying to make sure I have all that is needed once I start the project.

I finally got a reply from Summit
"The cover used on that car, to clear the water pump won't allow a double roller chain. You'll need a single roller, such as CLO-C3092. A different cover won't clear the water pump."
Does this sound like B.S.? As far as I know the water pump is just a short style SBC water pump, which I know people have run double rollers with short pumps. Really instills confidence in Summits so called "Tech Dept."

I had this EXACT conversation with them today, about 5:00 EST.

I think they are full of ****.

I ordered from Jegs. Their tech guy had a clue and said that there would be no problem sitting behind the stock cover.

The guys at Summit are worthless. They are OK when you know exactly what you need to buy, but if you have any doubt, they aren't going to help you a hell of a lot.

mine has cloyes double roller, stock cover, and stock w.pump and works fine. I thought when I put it together it might be a tight fit and put some clay on it, while close, no problem.

Thanks again Guys.
I've always ordered from Summit without problem, but then again I've never needed their "Expert" input.
