Not Even Close!!!!
SO, the second timing chain I ordered from Summit was the wrong one, even with the guys help from Summit.
So I gave up on them, and went to Jegs and ordered one. Should be here Friday.
I had the head ready to go, mounted with the 1010 gasket and 1/4 inch of clay (measured and cut with one of those wire cheese slicers).
So I put the original timing chain for the test as I was just sick of waiting on the timing gear set.
So anyway, figuring a 1/4 inch is .250, the valve barely kissed the top of the clay. Just the lightest of marks on the top of the clay. There's AT LEAST .225 clearance, according to the clay.
SO, now I know I have plenty of clearance I can go forward with the build.
What a relief. And thanks CFI-EFI for making me think about this. I feel better that I checked and didn't need anything instead of not checking and having a problem.

Double roller aftermarket. No real reason other than I have everything apart at this point and may as well change it. And it's just as easy to put in a roller as it is stock. That's about it... It's cheap enough.

Cool..be sure you get it all dialed in too.Ya know whats weird, years ago I had my engine built in my former L98 and the engine builder insisted on a LINK chain, would NOT use a roller or double roller chain. He claimed the roller type stretched too much over time, while the performer link didnt.
Over the years of reading a bit of everything,I found no evidence to support that, and in fact have seen articles in magazines or online that claim the roller chain is superior!
That being said, they all say to be sure to dial in your cam properly.
