The exhausts are totally different. On my 1989 I eliminated the precats, put in a Magnaflow (Carsound) highflow main cat, and installed a Magnaflow OEM style aluminum catback. www.corvettecentral.com
The performance is much better and not much resonance. Price was right.
Someone else will need to address the LT1. I think most people just install a catback.

As far as I am concerned magnaflow sounds the best on the L98
. Couldn't be happier! Its quite at cruise, agressive and loud at WOT
Heddman FL Street Headers --> Magnaflow High Flow spun metallic cats --> X- pipe --> Magnaflow wide open mufflers.
