Default Odd pop under car

Ok here's the deal, my vette is a 90, 6spd, bone stock with a fresh motor and 135K miles. When I first take off in first gear I get a pop under the car that can slightly be felt in the floor, and obviously heard outside. I had a friend of mine listen for it for me and she says it sounds like it is right behind the transmission. I am thinking U-joint time. I took the car to another friend at a mechanic shop and he lifted it up, pulled on all sorts of stuff, put wrenches on others looking for anything loose. So, I think I have eliminated all but the U-joints. It only pops once when you first change directions like something simply shifting under load and staying put until it changes directions again. Anyone had this happen?

BTW, I get no vibrations out of it. Nothing except the pop. For an old vette with a lot of miles it is an exceptional drive. Any help is appreciated.

Tighten those C-beam bolts a bit more - it's probably the cause.

Will do. Actually, I will be dropping the whole set up and changing the trans, clutch, and flywheel soon anyways. Thanks

Don't know how these new fangled things are, but back in the day, a popping sound from the rear that you could feel could indicate the need to add some positrac additive to the differential. Doesn't take much.
