Default 4X48 Weber IDF

I have been considering a LT-1 FI to 4X48 Weber carb conversion. Before anyone starts into the love of FI and the ancient tech of carbs let me start. My FI ECU and wiring are failing grounds and sensor failures are derailing the car. Yes I can repair/replace the system for large sums of money. And yes I acknowledge that FI has some superiority to carburetion. Here is my thought process; 8 individual barrels of carburetion and throttles allow for exact metering and matching of fuel to each cylinder. While L-98 Lt-1 miniram and super ram intakes are nice they all have the same inherent problem. The front 4 cylinders get more air than the back 4. Meaning that either the front 4 run rich or the back 4 run lean. Either way this system has some limited drawbacks. The only drawback form a design standpoint I have seen yet is taking air from direct under hood over the engine this can be abated by either replacing the hood to have a limited cowl effect or designing a sheet metal plenum to cover the velocity stack intakes and allow for cooler air to be drawn from another source (design pending). I have people who can manufacture the intake at no cost. This leaves the cost of the 4 carbs and any modifications to the car to allow for the elimination of the ECU. I have no issues removing ABS, ASR, VATS, some sections of emissions controls, and rewiring the gage panel. As a provisional step I would use the ECU to slave the ignition and other functions not associated with FI.

hi 93-383,
i have just brought a 8 throttle body cross ram fuel injection intake just recently.
it has 8 x 50 mm diameter throttle bodies with 100 mm long trumpets with a total runner length of 14" long.
this intake is proberely one of the best v8 intake available.
it will give you the best air/fuel ratio tune avaialable,no more lean back cylinders like you mentioned.
boschvette also has this intake and he gained 50 rear wheel horespeower all thru the rev range,
this intake is what all the v8 super race car that have 600 plus horsepower.
and you will never hear a better sounding intake also,it sounds sweet as.
the roar sound from it will make you grin from side to side mate!
if you do a serch " emovet" type in 8 throttle body intake you will see my pictures imposted up of mine.
you can also go to www.verycoolparts.com, click on intakes and then scroll down to " stacks" then go half way down to seee 350 chev cross ram intake.
very cool parts is the usa distributor from " dc&o services and products,he is the manufacutre in australia who makes them
quite costly though of $ 3,300 aus dollars.
i have 8" long cut naca hood ducts that sit rite above and in front of 8 t/b intake manifold to get nice cold air in plus a a/o engineering forced air filter thru bumper to let more cold air in as well!!
cheers

Just a suggestion for you manifold...you really should fab up a plenum of some kind to hold and stabilize the air for the intake horns or else it may be VERY difficult to tune the engine.
