I have a 92 vette and I'm so frustrated because I just thought it was a fuse issue that was causing me these problems but they all seem to be fine unless I am missing something. My lights that are supposed to turn on when I open the door and when I hit the switch to turn the inside lights on are no working that includes the ones down by both floors. My Antenna is not lowering or extending and my ac is unresponsive so I have no AC at all and the screen is just blank and I can't adjust anything or even turn the AC on. I have no idea what is going on here but hopefully someone here could help me out, it doesn't make any sense that all of this random stuff would just go out at once. Thank you.
Welcome to a great place.
Your symptoms (especially if your speedometer is displaying "SYS") sounds like your battery has failed (dead cell=11 volts instead of 12, etc.) or the connections are loose or corroded.
My '95 showed 'SYS' under hard acceleration and it was a weak battery. Go figure???? New battery, no more problems.
Good luck and hope this helps.
Buy a red-cover FSM with wiring diagrams for your year and a multimeter and learn how to use both. Each of these elecrical gremlins will be a chore to chase down but it can be done. I get a sys light too, and my battery tests fine, but since it's always done that even when the car runs fine I'm not too worried about it.
Use the forum search feature for each of your individual problems. Read up like crazy for the next few weeks and you'll get a pretty good idea of how all these systems work. I also recommend doing a forum search for "electrical diagnosis" to see what other forum members have had to do for their problems.
