RPM Bog....
Okay, this seems to have started out of nowhere.
Got the car back from the mechanic after a bit of transmission maintenance, oil pan replacement, and Front Y-pipe install. Drove it home last Saturday. After warming it up proper and all, I gave it a stomp. Yippee, took off like a nobody's business and THEN, suddenly at 2900-3000 RPM she just bogged down hard. Let off the gas and runs fine. This continued to be the case over the next couple of days. Talked to the mech. on Monday morning and he indicated that maybe something (crud i suppose) got dislodged in the tranny during his work,,, or maybe the Torque Converter was about to go. Give is a few days he says. Okay,, I do. Car seemed to run a bit rougher each day. Not horrible mind you, but rougher. Last night fired it up and it shut down as soon as I dropped it into gear. Refired and again seemed a bit rougher. Drove it a total then of less than 5 miles. Got in her this morining fired up and the darn thing will hardly run at all. Coughin' and backfiring, etc. Have to feather the gas to keep it running at all, and completely undrivable. Had a flat bed come pick her up and take her to the mech. He kinda looked cross eyed and said, "guess i'll be havin' to do some diags on it". She's there now, but I'm goin' back. Does anybody have anything I might use in my conversation with the mech? What could be causing this? Is there ANY way they created the situation? I mean coincidence is just TOO strong. They are a private garage, with a very good reputation for Corvettes and performance motors. I'm at a loss,,, but I just hoped one of y'all may offer me a bit of brain power for my next conversation with them. thanx, ron
Check to see if the knock sensor cable is still attached between/below #6 & #8 (or is it #4 & #6) plugs. Also assure that all plug wires are attached and in the proper firing order, it will run reasonably well with two crossed(don't ask).
