Is it possible to remove the driveshaft without removing the C beam?
I have an 85 with the 4+3 trans and TPIS headers. My trans yoke has some sort of a harmonic balancer on it and it has slid off the rubber mount. My Y pipe is frozen to the headers. I tried to get it off with a BFH, but it won’t come off. With the Y-pipe on I can’t remove the C beam bolts .
I could cut the Y pipe off if I had to but, I don’t want to do that for this job. If I take the CAT and rear exhaust off it looks like there is enough space to get the drive shaft out but has any one ever tried it.

Undo the 4 bolts holding the ujoints to the rear yoke on the differential.
Take rubber hammer, and tap the drive shaft FORWARD into the transmission, angle the drive shaft so its above the e-brake cable that goes horizontally across the car.
Take the rubber hammer, and tap the drive shaft out of the transmission.
May wish to have a catch pan under the rear of the tailshaft to keep transmission fluid from leaking on your shop floor.
I have done it on my '85, the floor pan has an area that will interfere. It is a welded seam that is sort of like a "flange" for lack of a better word. This "flange" can be bent with a pair of vise grips just enough to let the shaft side out the rear.

I've done it about 20 times this year w/out issue.. ??
I have tryed to find a new one without any luck, do someone here know where to look/have a part #?
The Swedish stores cant find it in there books and I cant find any on ecklers/CC/MAM/ZIP...
I have high speed vibration, the hole car shakes (the wheels are ok) Im gona start by balance the shafts and axel but if the harmonic balanser is cheap Ill replace it
Edit: it is an 1984 with auto.
Regards
Stefan

I changed all ujoints and all bearings and the vibration was gone

I used to cuss about the amount of non-valued time and effort it took to simply remove the driveshaft from my '84. Then one day while I was at the GM Proving Ground, I noticed the Tech making a tweak to that flange. He mentioned that that's what they do so they don't have to disassemble half the car to get the driveshaft out. Good enough for me. I made the same slight bend to mine, and problem solved.

The manual cars don't have the balancer on the DS
Mine (w/4+3) came stock with the damper. I removed it when I needed to change yokes for the Richmond 6spd.
