This comes from the instructuons on how to rebuild the OD:
To adjust the TV cable on the valve body, install tool J-34671-1 into the TV cable bore on the side of the case and set the hook on the high step of the gauge. Place the cam stop on the valve body as close to the lever as possible and install the retaining bolt.
Next, set the hook on the lower step of the gauge. Place tool J-34671-2 between the piston and solenoid bracket. Adjust the bolt on the TV lever until the lever just touches the tool.
Basically what it's saying is adjust the TV cable until there is almost no slack in it, but it isn't being pulled at all at idle. I forget how to actually do it, but I remember doing it without special tools or anything.
Thanks for the reply. My Mechanic is telling me he nneds a tool to do it and does not have it. He said he will try to find one. I am helping him in the hunt.

The quote, above, by hmcquade, isn't really the TV cable adjustment, we are familiar with. It is instructions from the FSM on the proper placement on installation of the TV cable in the OD unit on overhaul or replacement. The actual field adjustment of the TV cable is the same for the 4+3 as it is for the 700R4.
Ok CFI but does it need the tolls in the instructions?
Thanks,
Hugh
You mean tool (not tolls) don't you? I am not a transmission man. *I* would need the tool if I were to attempt it. An experienced 4+3 man night not. See what Pete K. has to say.
Thank you CFI for the spelling lession I had not idea this site was more than help for Corvettes. Perhaps you can tell me how to contact Pete K as I can't find him the the members list.
Hugh
