I did the Mini Ram thing July 4th. After 5k miles I can say its the only way to go. I dont notice the small torque loss in normal driving. The only negative is it seems to use more gas. When I fill it up tomorrow I will calculate just what it did on the 240 miles I drove today. I finally got it to the 1/4 mile track at Bowling Green this afternoon. New best 1/8 is 8.22, 1/4 is 12.83 @ 107. Previous best 1/8 with Edelbrock base and TPIS runners was 8.26. Only one time. Most 1/8 times were around 8.36. Previous 1/4 times were several 13.11s @ 107. 60' time are about the same if you go by the numbers. Very different by the seat of the pants. The old set up left hard and almost always squeeled tires. With the Mini it feels very dead off the line but just gradually starts pulling hard. The car still has a little more in it, as I had to add a lot of fuel pressure to get it into the 12s. A little more tuning should get maybe `12.75s. That will have to wait for spring. Weather is turning cold fast here.

Did you have any problem with those heads mating to the intake? I have almost the same ones, and the intake ports needed to be filled and re-ground because they were too high up the face.

Great to hear the Mini-Ram is working out well. Everyone has always said the torque loss was unbearable, but I think it's because L98 drivers get so used to all that torque they have trouble adjusting at first. But by the sounds of your description, it's almost as if the Mini-Ram gives the L98 more 'refined' power delivery.

Mine were not too high up. The vertical wall of the ports at one end of the head did not line up. I had to grind that out a bit. Its not a great match but I dont think it hurts flow that much. I also had to grind for pushrod clearance. I bought the heads on a reccomend from a friend. Bad advice. This was a few years ago. Today I would go with Brodix RaceRites.
Back from the gas station. Got in 11 gallons. Thats 21.8 mpg. The dash said 23.6, its a little optomistic. That includes 8 trips down the 1/4. I can live with that.

I am running the miniram; had the Edelbrock runners and base before; went to 3.73 gears at the same time I switched to the miniram; noticed no torque loss; I am also running a 6 speed, so that may help as well....the car revs so fast with my set up that it is in the power band quickly, don't miss the long runner set up...

I think the MR would be a great setup too. Having a lot of "juice" off the line makes the lack of top-end more noticable IMO. The idea of having power that consistently builds throughout the powerband sounds good -- the way it SHOULD be.
Just some info for any one going to a Mini. Forget all about the TPI tune up. The Mini requires more advance, more fuel and the stock method of setting the IAC wont work. Be willing to tweak on all of these things. It has been running good since day one but, it takes some time to get it right. We have been working on the car since July looking for the best tune and its nearly there. I have had great help from a forum member (will remain un-named) that has made a real difference.
My TB is stock. I dont remember the exact method I used but I think I Turned in the idle screw about 1 1/2 turns, started the car with Datamaster running and tweaked it a bit more, watching the screen. It will change a bit after driving. Last time I looked it was around 38. The main thing is, the factory procedure is not going to work at all.
