Default Cam Suggestions

Here's what I'm doing. I have an 86 with iron heads. I bought an engine out of a 90 to get aluminum heads and a roller cam. I plan on going through the engine this winter and putting it in my car. I have an Accel superram and 1.6 roller rockers. I plan to stay at 350 cid. Not sure what cam to use. A roller that will work with the 86 distributer and pass smog every 2 years. I was thinking the GM LT4 hot cam, but not sure it will work with a distributer. The duration looks like it would have a decent idle with enough lift to pull to 5500-6000. Waddaya think?

Thanks, Paul

I'm doing a superram/heads/cam upgrade this winter also, and have 1.6RR on the car already.

Seems the consensus here is the Lingenfelter 219 cam would work, and a few people have also used the Comp Cams 276HR "503" cam.

I think i'm going to go with the Comp 503 as mine.

Ruggeri eh? Any relitives in Lyndhurst NJ? Any relatives that may be radio personalities under "stage names"

Anyway, I have the super ram and I went with the Lingenfelter 219 as that is what Lingenfelter says is supposed to go with the intake.

Hey, they are the engineers, they know better than I do.

I don't think I want to second guess them And, BTW, my lingenfelter cam came in a Comp Cam box, so comp Cams grinds the cam for Lingenfelter.

Where do you want peak power to be?

The 219 cam is nice, but don't peak as high as a different cam.

The super ram is not a high RPM intake, so to put a cam with higher RPMs than the super ram is designed to operate at, causes a mismatch and possible dead spots.

Though I have seen 230 degree cams dyno with a SR and make good torque while still running up to a peak HP at 5800-6000RPMS

I need a fairly broad power band, nothing too "peaky". Does anyone have the specs on the Lingenfelter 219 cam?
No relatives on the East Coast. We're all here in sunny California
