Default Poor braking performance when cold

I have a customer with a '95 A4 who is complaining of poor braking performance when the car is cold - first out in the morning. He has tried several brands of brake pads. He tried some severe-duty pads one time, and if he drove with light pedal pressure, they would warm up and work well, but cold performance was still poor. Anyone else have this problem, and how did you resolve it?

I have Satisfied Grand Sport pads on my '92 M6 and I like them.

Any thoughts?

Chuck

Best pad Ive ever used on the street for any car were the Wagners. The harder the pad the worse they seem to stop. Thats just my experience though.

First thing I would ask him is how old is the brake fluid, and is it burned, etc. Then I would find out the condition of the pads and the rotors. If he is using a hard pad, then maybe switching to the "Red Stuff" pad or similar softer pad.
