I am looking for suggestions on spark plugs and what to gap them at for a 94 stock engine lt1 with the basic vortech kit. I suppose it has whatever the boost the base stock kit comes with. I just got the car this week and I haven't gotten a boost gauge yet. I use the NGK TR55s on my C5 and I am pleased with them. The vortech instructions say to use the stock heat range plugs, but most people seem to like to go to the TR6 (one step colder). Should I use the stock TR55 or the colder TR6? What should I gap them at?
I normally gap around .035 you could probably go a little wider. Like some things it is subjective with the type of wires and ingnition you are using. I'm using Iridium plugs...
If you have shorty headers I found it easier to pull them from the bottom of the car...
If you have the stock manifolds I found it easiest to get to the driverside by removing the center section of the fenderwell using a long extension . I use a length of rubber hose to start the plugs to keep from potentially cross threading them.
Like MN_vette I'm using the BR7's also but i'm using AFR heads so I use the gasket type vs. the tapered used in the stock heads.
another consideration would also be to look into a water methanol injection kit, that will allow yo to reagain some timing as well especially with the stock compression.
Have questions about using water methanol injection on your Corvette and the benefits it has to offer, be sure to contact A&A Corvette and ask to speak with Andy.
