I'm looking for cheap and DIY modes for a daily driver. 1987 L98 engine , K&N with cut lid, hyperchip, TB bypass have been done. I'm looking for just a little more fun without killing milage and drivability. Does Siamessing the intake help or hurt you if you didn't and don't intent to modify the engine internals? Is Superram worth the money for daily driver or is this a race only mode? Will punching out precats hurt if you keep main cat? I need to pass emision testing here. Thanks for any and all suggestions!
Siamesing is fine, and you dont have to modify everything else. SR is worth the money, but should really only be done when you have a complete plan, and are going to modify internal things like the cam or change the heads. If you clear out the precats, you should get a newer main cat, it'll handle the job unless MA is stiff about emissions. Most states it'll pass sniffer without them.

There's not a single cheap HP mod you'll feel on the street.
The following mods will add little or no HP, but I guarantee you'll feel it:
Higher stall torque converter.
Shorter ring/pinion gears.
Exhaust. (trust me it'll feel faster)
I have a catless front Y pipe and welded in a Carsound high flow 3" main cat, and muffler eliminator pipes. It's loud and mean, but not very obnoxious, and passes the sniffer.
