Default Two Stupid Questions

OK, I'm getting down to details here.

I read the forum, perhaps too much, and have to ask the following;

My stock 1990 bottom end:

1. I have a roller cam with a retaining plate do I need a "cam button" I believe the answer is NO.

2. Steam holes. Not an issue on this block. Right?

I know I know, stupid questions, better to ask now rather than find out later.

No cam button,the retainer plate does the job.

As I thought. However, sometimes simple things here seem to get very complicated and lead to more confusion...

Was traveling last week, got nothing done. I had the powder coater redo some stuff since I didn't like the way it came out at first.

Last piece is to get the heads on and measure the pushrods, order them, then it's just assembly.

Everything is staged and ready to go, I just have to have all the parts to do it.

I don't want to put the front of the motor together until I set the distributor. I'll line up the distributor based on the timing chain, which is easy and I know I'll get it right.

The issue is that I don't have the intake base, it's at the powder coaters. I don't have the push rod lengths yet. I have the tool to measure them, I just have to do that, then order them. Once those two things are done, this week, it's all down hill.

It's really not a lot to do, I just have to get all the parts and do it in the right order.

One last thing is I have to look at the gaskets. The Super Ram takes a 1205 gasket, the heads take a 1204. Spec has them pretty close, witin .050, so I have to set up the 1205 gasket on the heads and see what it looks like. Maybe I'll have to take some port off the heads.

Worst case, over Thanksgiving this should be done, at the latest.

Then it's some exhaust touch up...

On another note, based on your avatar, I finally got my boat out of the water this weekend. It should be in storage this week. Between that and the kids soccer games and such, I didn't have a hell of a lot of time to work on the car.
